Social Responsibility
The RCS Group is committed not only to providing tailored financial services and solutions, but also towards upliftment and positively improving people’s lifestyles through our work in the wider community.
RCS Group recognizes that it has a responsibility, as a corporate citizen, to contribute towards the economic and social development of our country. It is our belief that for our economy to grow and thrive, corporate South Africa needs to play its part in partnering with government and the public sector to address some of the challenges that the country faces.
The primary objective of our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) program is to create, through a combination of staff participation and financial contributions, viable and sustainable solutions that identify and ultimately alleviate the social disparities in the South African society
Our CSI initiatives we focus on projects in the areas of education, health & welfare, housing and special projects for the benefit of our employees, customers and the communities within which we operate.
Some of the programs we are involved in are:
- Project O and The RCS Group: Project O is an orphan support organisation working for the wellbeing of children who have been orphaned by Aids or are infected with Aids. The project is based in Inanda Valley in KZN and provides and distributes food, clothing, support, education and medical care and supplies.
- Habitat for Humanity: RCS Group supports the annual house building programme of Habitat for Humanity. The nature of our involvement includes a financial contribution towards the building costs as well as volunteer labor through given staff off work to go and assist in the building program.
- TSiBA Partnership: An amount of R 2 million has been committed over a period of four years with TSiBA, an independent free tertiary education campus based in Pinelands Cape Town. In addition we have provided resources to develop a financial curriculum, focusing on the National Credit Act and its application that will be incorporated in their degree course.
- School sport : In conjunction with the South African Schools Baseball Association, we have put together a little league of 7 schools in the Cape Flats with the view of teaching these children the discipline that goes with sport. Part of the programme involves the educational camps in June and December where life skills are taught. The emphasis of the programme is on both education and play as we insist on the improvement of school performance as part of the deal.
- Adopt a Charitable cause : Our staff within the company are also involved in projects that they support in the communities they come from. We support these initiatives on merit and have received wonderful requests over time. To date we have spent more than R 50 000 towards these initiatives and continue to support requests as they arise.
CSI Support - Application procedure - Should you wish to be considered for funding, the following criteria will determine the success of your application: Detailed description of the project and the funding requested, project must be within our focus areas, clearly identifiable beneficiaries including their demographics and location, extent of economic and social need and registration documents and management structure.
